SONY DSC

Rotterdam-based industrial designer patrick hartog prioritzes the handmade in his products. the ‘cable light’ draws from the knot-tying
techniques on mooring bollards and the craft of ceramics and slip casting. multi-colored or patterned cables enliven the simple, cast form while
making the fixture highly customizable.

TINY 140 SQUARE FOOT TACK HOME BUILT BY HAND

The itty bitty homes that we tend to feature on Inthralld are some of the most daring, daunting and ultimately exciting to see. So when it’s tiny and built entirely by hand (with more than 800 hours put into the mix) you’d better believe it gets a whole lot of extra attention.

Growler-Bike-Concept-By-Joey-Ruiter-1

February 22nd, 2013 – The GROWLER City Bike was created with the design lover, recreational urban rider, and local pub in mind. Industrial designer Joey Ruiter, Founder and design lead of jruiter + studio, has a soft spot for people who opt to cycle instead of drive. Riders have needs too, and one of those needs is transporting their beverages. Now, we’re not condoning drinking alcoholic beverages and cycling, but we are condoning functional and easily accessible bicycle storage…

Brò! We’ll do it!

We have featured some amazing retreats over the last couple of years, but none as special as this wooden cabin in Yulan, NY. It is owned by fashion stylist and interior designer Scott Newkirk, he wanted a place to escape in the weekends from the hectic city life.

BUM stools by UM Project x BAGGU 1

The BUM stool is a travel seat especially designed and made by BAGGU andUM Project for Reclaim x2. All proceeds of this sale will go to the Brooklyn Recovery Fund for local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

The piece is made of a duotone lacquered maple base, stainless steel hardware, a natural color canvas top and a brightly-colored shoulder strap matching the leg “sockets.” The name of the piece comes from a fun and not-so-serious co-branding exercise between BAGGU and UM, as well as a playful nod to form and function. aarico-taste-of-wood-photo-fzaminga-1

Do you remember the Italian designer Antonio Aricò?

Here’s another piece of poetry applied to the design, as always, simple, natural, smart and funny.

Taste of Wood is a funny eulogy to olive
oil, to olive wood, to wooden furniture and
has for background the artisanal
techniques used to finish and preserve it.

As we all know, Olive oil can be used as well to
polish of the olive wood.
When you are sitting under an olive tree you
can dream about tasting some really good
Calabrese olive oil but not only! You can
also start thinking about your furniture and
start polishing them with passion.

A little tea spoon, a soft sponge,
an oil dispenser… a tender family
of products dedicated to serve olive oil,
to you, your table or your chair.
The collection Taste of Wood plays on
the theme “eatable materials” but without
loosing the essential ideas of utility
and quality in all the products.

Must visit his website

polaroid z2300 instant 1

The iconice brand Polaroid is back with the Z2300 Instant Digital Camera, a 10 megapixel printer cam that produces 2 x 3-inch prints that are also stickers in about 30-45 seconds.
It’s not quite as quick as the Polaroids of old, but at least you don’t have to shake em.
The Z2300 comes in white and black, both with a thin rainbow decal across the front and large red shutter button that plays on its retro roots.
The paper pops out from a slot on the right hand side, while the left is home to the mini-USB port, power jack and a switch for landscape and macro mode. The controls around back, next to the LCD viewfinder, are pretty standard.

The Backyard House - Rise over run 1

The backyard house is a unique structure made exclusively with reclaimed local barn wood (shown above) and copper roofing.  It is heated by a wood stove making it a year round backyard destination.  The detached residential structure in general is a great way to get that extra space (guest room, office, etc.), without trying to buy a new house.

branch studio architects design their own office 1

From Designboom

The brief called for a small studio space for two architects, a landscape architect and a meeting area– but the client could not be more subjective
in taste. in designing their own workspace, architects brad wray and nicolas russo drew both material and spatial organization from the
surrounding terrain. sited near an orchard, the form of the building was oriented to maximize views out to the landscape while still creating a
sense of productive refuge.

bunny-on-floor light 1

Porcelain white rabbit with a light-up tail
Super adorable bunny with a light-bulb where his fluffy tail should be. We don’t have to explain any more than that, he’s irresistible, and a little surreal. Face in different directions to adjust the amount of light directed into a dark room. The light stays cool to the touch and is made up of energy efficient LEDs. Powered via USB, so it will work with your existing phone or camera charger plug. We also include a UK mains USB adaptor in the box.
